Course Overview
The Dive Medical Technician (DMT) Online Certification Course is an advanced specialty education program designed for currently licensed EMTs and Paramedics who want comprehensive training in diving accident management, recompression therapy, and hyperbaric medicine fundamentals.
This program is delivered 100% online, allowing qualified EMS professionals to complete the full DMT certification and board examination without any in-person classroom or skills sessions, while earning 40 hours of Florida EMS–approved continuing education credit.
Important:
The DMT certification does not expand or alter scope of practice. EMTs continue to operate at the BLS level and Paramedics at the ALS level, with added specialized academic knowledge in dive and hyperbaric medicine.
What Makes the DMT Program Different
The DMT curriculum builds upon the same core dive medicine foundation taught in DMR, with the key distinction being the inclusion of:
-
Recompression therapy principles
-
Hyperbaric medicine fundamentals
-
Chamber operations and treatment concepts
Historically, DMT training was only available through limited in-person programs. Trilogy Emergency Medical Solutions was one of only six approved DMT programs in the United States.
Through alignment with the International Board of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (IBHBOT), Trilogy now offers a fully online DMT certification pathway for licensed EMTs and Paramedics.

DMT vs. DMR – Choosing the Right Track
DMR and DMT share the same core dive medicine foundation.
The primary difference is that DMT includes recompression therapy and hyperbaric medicine fundamentals.
-
Choose DMR for dive medicine awareness and responder-level knowledge
-
Choose DMT for advanced training and formal certification as a Dive Medical Technician
Both programs are excellent; the correct choice depends on how and where you intend to apply the training.
