Program Overview

The Dive Medical Technician (DMT) Online Certification Program is an advanced specialty education course designed for currently licensed EMTs and Paramedics who want to develop in-depth knowledge in diving accident management, recompression therapy, and hyperbaric medicine fundamentals.

This program is delivered 100% online, allowing qualified EMS professionals to complete the full DMT certification and board examination without any in-person classroom or skills sessions, while earning 40 hours of approved continuing education credit through Florida EMS.

Important:
The DMT certification does not expand or alter scope of practice. EMTs continue to function at the BLS level and Paramedics at the ALS level, with added specialized academic training in dive medicine and hyperbaric medicine.

Why This Program Is Unique

Historically, DMT training was only available through limited, in-person programs. Trilogy Emergency Medical Solutions was one of only six approved DMT programs in the United States.

Through alignment with the International Board of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (IBHBOT), Trilogy EMS now offers:

• Online board certification testing

• Eligibility for currently licensed EMTs and Paramedics

This program exists because DMT education is academic specialty training and does not change licensure or scope of practice.

Course Format (EMT & Paramedic – Online Track)

• 100% online, self-paced coursework

• Recorded instructor-led lectures and case reviews

• Advanced dive medicine education, including recompression and hyperbaric fundamentals

There are no in-person training requirements for EMTs or Paramedics enrolled in the online DMT program.

Eligibility Requirements

To complete the DMT certification fully online, students must:

• Hold current EMT or Paramedic licensure

• Provide proof of active certification 

Continuing Education Credit

Traditional in-person DMT courses—including an optional two-day Chamber Operator Course ($395 add-on)—will resume at our Pompano Beach facility in May 2026.
