Program Overview

The Diving Medical Responder (DMR) Online Certification Program is a specialty education course designed for currently licensed EMTs and Paramedics who want to develop a comprehensive working knowledge of diving-related medical emergencies and dive accident management.

This program is delivered 100% online, allowing qualified EMS professionals to complete the full DMR certification without any in-person training requirements, while earning 40 hours of approved continuing education credit through Florida EMS.

Important:
The DMR certification does not expand or alter scope of practice. EMTs continue to function at the BLS level and Paramedics at the ALS level, with the added benefit of specialized academic training in dive medicine.

Why This Program Is Different

Traditionally, diving medical education required in-person attendance and was often inaccessible to working EMS professionals.

Through Trilogy Emergency Medical Solutions and alignment with the International Board of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (IBHBOT), the DMR program is now available as a fully online certification for licensed EMTs and Paramedics.

This program provides foundational dive medicine education while meeting continuing education requirements without changing licensure, authority, or scope of practice.

Course Format (EMT & Paramedic – Online Track)

  • 100% online, self-paced coursework

  • Recorded instructor-led lectures and case reviews

  • Dive accident recognition and response education

  • Online certification examination

There are no in-person training requirements for EMTs or Paramedics completing the DMR certification online.

  • Diving Medical Responder (DMR) Certification

  • Certification issued through Trilogy Emergency Medical Solutions

  • Alignment with IBHBOT standards and pathways - IBHBOT DMR Certification Eligibility

Relationship to DMT Certification

The DMR certification provides the same core dive medicine foundation as the DMT program, without recompression or hyperbaric medicine training.

For those seeking advanced education in recompression therapy and hyperbaric medicine—or offshore medical roles—the Dive Medical Technician (DMT) program is the appropriate next step.
